My predictions for ‘08 race

Democrat: Obama/Biden (These two have passed numerous bills together in the senate, won’t be surprised to see them working together for presidency.)
Republican: Huckabee/Jesus (Actually, I don’t follow the republican side strongly, so I’ll let you decide.)
3rd party: Paul/Kucinich (Although they have a few different beliefs, i think that these two are the most courageous, uncorrupted politicians out there, and would make for a 3rd party dreamteam that’s actually capable of winning.)

Sharpton, Please!

Al Sharpton considers himself a civil rights leader of the new millennium. He wants to be to civil rights what Jesse Jackson was in the 1980s. This can not, and will not ever happen. This is just another case of a perceived African-American leader trying to inflate his or her ego, so that they can be viewed in the future as a component to black equality during the years of social prejudice. The thing is; this will never happen. Nobody actually likes Al Sharpton, he is a bully and a liar seeking personal gain from other’s issues. People are too scared to stand up against this oppressive man. He recently told Knick’s coach Isaiah Thomas that he should apologize to all black women, because he had sexually assaulted and harassed an African-American Madison Square Garden employee. This generalization is ignorance, and it comes from an ignorant man. What if Isaiah Thomas had made sexual advances upon a white intern? The fact is, we would have never heard a single word from Al. This blatant disregard for races other then his own is a plague in our community. I understand the notion of being overly sympathetic to those who are similar to us; this is only a natural occurrence. But Al Sharpton is a man out to blow up his legacy. He recently attacked Presidential hopeful Joe Biden for calling Barack obama a clean, articulate man, and a story book man. Al Sharpton just had to butt into the situation, The Associated Press reports:
“Civil rights activist Al Sharpton on Thursday took Sen. Joe Biden to task for calling Democratic rival Sen. Barack Obama “articulate” and “clean,” questioning how the description reflects on other blacks.”
Barack Obama honestly is the first articulate mainstream African-American; Sharpton must have felt insulted by the reality that eats away at him, revealing that he truly is an ignorant man. This is the truth that we must face ourselves with; the African-American community does not let articulate individuals in the spotlight, and calls them “white-washed”. Our prominent figures and role-models consist of Allen Iverson, Souljah Boy, P. Diddy and other famous entertainers and sports stars. An element to note, is that none of these stars have a college degree. Individuals such as Michael Eric Dyson, Cornell West, and Colin Powell go almost ignored. I am willing to bet that higher ratios of White-Americans know who these figures are than Black-Americans. Another detail to note, none of the afore-mentioned beings are without a college degree. Even Obama has been attacked for not being black enough, an ignorant claim which further reveals the ignorance of our community. The NAACP recently said the same about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donavan McNabb; I presume because he has a mellow voice, and uses proper vocabulary. But what you do not see, is criticism of criminal dog fighter and Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, whom we were supposed to rally behind, according to Al Sharpton and the NAACP.
In the end, the black community does not need leaders to elect themselves as representatives of our race. We need to speak for ourselves, and speak out against the atrocities of our community.
Hilary Clinton: The “Anyone but Her” Candidate

Hilary Rodham Clinton. When I hear this name an image of a serpent comes to mind, with too many chemicals in it’s hair and a pants-suit. Hilary Clinton is a corrupt politician, and is quickly becoming the “Anyone but Her” Candidate. After the questions planted at the CNN Republican and Democratic debates, I think that we can all agree that something here is shady. She recently attacked Presidential Hopeful Barack Obama, after he stated that he had not planned to become a the president as a lifelong dream (which really isn’t that relative). She attacked him by releasing the following statement.
“In kindergarten, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want to Become President. ‘Iis Darmawan, 63, Senator Obama’s kindergarten teacher, remembers him as an exceptionally tall and curly haired child who quickly picked up the local language and had sharp math skills. He wrote an essay titled, ‘I Want To Become President,’ the teacher said.”
She released this just weeks after saying
“I’m not interested in attacking my opponents, I’m interested in attackng the problems of America. And I believe we should be turning up the heat on the Republicans — they deserve all the heat we can give them.”
When someone comes at her for double-talking an issue or challenges her beliefs, she simply puts it off as an attempt to dethrone the leader on the democratic side. Why is she not challenging their’s? Why have I not heard her even address Congressman Kucinich’s Health Plan? It’s because she does not need to. Public opinion does not in fact root for Clinton. The media does. During a debate that she absolutely bombs, they will choose her as a clear-cut winner of the competition. In fact, they don’t talk about anyone other then her, Edwards and Obama. The media truly has a deciding role in the selection of the next President of the United States. Why is it that Clinton is the one who gains the most boos at speeches? Just a couple of days ago, she was booed during a speech in Iowa. She was not even present at the speech; she was in New Hampshire probably seeking sympathy from voters that witnessed her campaign office being held up. She is a corporate executive, exploiting and corrupting American Politics. Don’t get me wrong, this is not new. This has been happening for years, even the Bush administration seeks to gain the interest of the corporate world before the population. It needs to be stopped. I am asking each and every one of you (though not many) who are reading my blog, to spread the word of these events, and have an open mind of who you support. Don’t fall into the media’s trap, the time for change is now. The Press has been controlling the office of the President for years, and the time to change this is now. There is no better time then now to change the trend of the big name, money raising politicians gaining recognition as the favorites of the elections. Spread the word on your Grassroots candidates, campaign, go door to door, set up debate parties; do anything that you can do to change this trend. Knowledge is power.
Immigration, An Actual Solution

I have very strong views on this subject. I think that we all, as Americans, can agree that the borders of America are not nearly as secure as they should be. What needs to happen, is an implementation of a separate government branch to deal with those who cross into the country undocumented. A wall is not necessary, and that would contradict the foundation upon which this country was founded on. In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson echoed the beliefs of Philosopher John Locke in saying “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Can anyone honestly look into my eye and tell me that the goal of immigrants is not to pursue happiness? I think it is true; that we should regulate these immigrants, and make sure each one is giving back to America. But wouldn’t we be turning our back on the forefathers of the country if we were to deny anyone admission into the United States?
What about those who did not cross into America documented, but are still here. Should we deport them? Hell no. Think about this; what if you were going to the DMV, and there were two lines. One of these lines stretched around the block, and it took hours to process your papers. The other line was empty, but it was, say it was closed only to elders. You look like a senior citizen, and there is no way of them actually telling how old you were. What would you do? I know what I would do; I’d go into the empty line. Now this isn’t exactly the best example of the situation they faced, but you get the point. These immigrants were faced with a decision, and the decision was an easy one for most. We should not punish them for what they did in the past. Now that doesn’t mean that the documented immigrants shouldn’t get priority. The groups of immigrants should be split into 4 year groups, starting at 1990. Anyone who reached America before 1990 should be contacted and told that they can gain citizenship; documented or not. 1990-1994 should be next, and so on. These pools should be ordered from documented workers by year entered the country, earliest to latest. Undocumented workers would order then a second part of the pool, from earliest to latest. This would solve the problem, and anyone who seeks citizenship would then get it, as long as they met the requirements.
Side-Note: You may have noted that I have never use the terminology “illegal” on this blog to describe an immigrant. That is because the usage of that term is unethical, and should not be used. No human is illegal in existence, and that thinking is primitive.
